| Tasmania's AFL Submission Premier David Bartlett today announced that the Tasmanian Government will present its AFL Submission to the AFL on Friday.
“I and Minister for Sport & Recreation Michelle O’Byrne will meet with AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou, the AFL Executive and AFL Chief Commissioner Mike Fitzpatrick at AFL House,” Mr Bartlett said.
“This will be an historic day for Tasmania and AFL football in the State.
“What this submission represents is Tasmania presenting an opportunity to the AFL – we are ready and waiting for a future AFL Licence.”
Mr Bartlett said Tasmania’s business case, produced by Melbourne-based sports consultancy Gemba, is strong.
“The submission we will present on Friday is extremely strong in terms of how Tasmania can deliver the necessary criteria required for an AFL licence – stadium economics, revenue and expenditure, sponsorship, membership of the Tasmanian Football Club and crowds at Aurora Stadium.
“However, the final submission will not be discussed in detail before it goes to the AFL executive.”
